Treatment Philosophy
At River Oaks, we have several different types of outpatient programs designed to meet the individual needs of each patient. Outpatient drug and alcohol rehab programs may be ideal for people who don’t have serious co-occurring disorders that would necessitate 24-hour supervision and for those who either don’t need medical detox or have completed it already.

Drug and Alcohol Addiction in Belleair Beach, FL

Belleair Beach is a small city in Pinellas County, with less than 2,000 permanent residents. While the state is home to beautiful beaches and considered for many a tourist haven, Florida is no stranger to the drug abuse epidemic. Since 2016, fatal drug overdose cases in Pinellas County have increased by 101%.1 The county saw an increased number of drug overdoses in 2020, with an overdose rate of 57 cases per every 100,000 individuals.1 At least 24% of adults in the county also engage in heavy or binge drinking habits. That’s significantly higher than the state of Florida, which averages at 15.5%.1

According to Pinellas County Health Improvement Plan, residents have 3 health priorities: mental health and substance abuse, access to care, and social determinants of health.2 Nearly 19% of adults report physical or mental health problems that keep them from doing usual activities.2

Belleair Beach, FL Detox and Rehab Availability

According to Florida Health data, in 2021, there were at least 1,356 adults enrolled in substance abuse programs in Pinellas County.1 There are at least 34 facilities within 25 miles of Belleair Beach.3 Given its proximity to major cities, most detox and rehab availability is in Clearwater, Largo, and Indian Rocks Beach.3 Substance abuse rehab facilities provide various types of addiction treatment, including:4

  • A process that involves supervised care to help patients withdraw from substance use and prepare them for treatment.
  • A treatment program is best for people willing to attend regular appointments. Care frequency depends on the program, and it involves both personal and group therapy sessions.
  • Hospital inpatient. A treatment program that offers 24/7 care is usually connected to a hospital or clinic. Most hospital inpatient programs also provide detox and rehab care.
  • A stable live-in care setting for long-term addiction treatment. Each facility has specific program styles and expectations for its residents.
  • Transitional housing. A temporary space for patients to stay while transitioning from an intensive treatment setting or after completing rehab.
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment. About half of people who experience substance abuse will also experience mental health problems. Addressing both is critical for success in recovery, so these programs offer an integrated treatment plan.

Belleair Beach, FL Drug and Alcohol Support Groups

Although drug and alcohol support groups are not a substitute for treatment, they’re part of the principles of effective addiction treatment.5 Support groups offer a source of support and encouragement for people in treatment and after.5 The most well-known support groups are based on the 12-Step model, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).5

AA is a fellowship program that invites people ready to solve their drinking problems.6 In Belleair Beach, the closest AA meeting is:7

Pinellas County Intergroup Inc

Helpline: (727) 530-0415

NA is a community-based organization of people for whom drugs have become a major problem.8 These meetings encourage those in recovery to find strategies to help each other stay clean and sober.8 There are about 54 Narcotics Anonymous meeting sites near Belleair Beach.9 Check with each meeting site to verify meeting dates, times, and formats.
