It worked for me. I started back drinking I could handle it now. I was wrong of course.
I cannot say enough good about this program. The heart that the staff had for me and other participants just cannot be described. Every possible resource, program or procedure that the Director deems beneficial for a woman changing her life and getting back on her feet and being restored to her children is researched and implemented. There are naysayers, of course. Usually they are those who have been dismissed or had a family member dismissed and are mad about it. Like many other shelters and programs, we suffered through the bed-bug epidemic years back and spent a LOT of money fixing it. So did many hotels. Get over it. I could talk about how there IS a phenomenal cook running our kitchen but I didn\'t even eat anything on drugs anyhow so enough said. I will tell you this - I was a 15+ year meth and opiate addict with drug trafficking charges and actually lost count with how many times I had been arrested. I have been clean a decade because of this place (2011) and have not relapsed once. Recovery is what you surrender to.
This place was amazing! The staff has changed drastically since I was there, so I don\'t know if it\'s still as good, which I say because the reason this place was so great was because of the staff that was there during my stay. The two therapists that made this place what is was are now working outpatient in Birmingham, so maybe the new staff isn\'t as good... I don\'t know. The chef is fantastic and works really hard to help make recovery fun and educational. I\'d give it a try if you are looking for a treatment center that treats you like a human and works with you where you are at in recovery.
