Treatment Philosophy
At River Oaks, we have several different types of outpatient programs designed to meet the individual needs of each patient. Outpatient drug and alcohol rehab programs may be ideal for people who don’t have serious co-occurring disorders that would necessitate 24-hour supervision and for those who either don’t need medical detox or have completed it already.

This place has seriously become family to me. I never thought I could become what I am today until I met everyone that worked here. The facility is absolutely amazing. Very very clean .... always very very clean.... the food is phenomenal thanks to the wonderful cooks. My life was seriously headed straight for death but this team worked a miracle and saved me. The entire staff is great and the way they all truly care as opposed to them just doing the job is extraordinary. I was able to fully hand myself over and trust where I was to help me.

New Horizons of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee

One of the good rehabs in area, but recovery still depends on individual. When you leave, using what youve gained and if you continue working program, you never need to drink again. They let in both people wsnting help as well as people that needed help but were placed in by parents/court. Have to want it for it to work

St. John’s Recovery Place

The atmosphere at Sjrp is very therapeutic and recovery oriented. The staff really go above and beyond and everyone seems genuinely happy to be there. You can tell they enjoy what they do, which made me feel very comfortable. The facility is very clean. I would highly recommend Sjrp to anyone (friend or family) struggling with addiction and looking to get their life back on track.

Drug and Alcohol Addiction in Durant, Fla.

Durant is one of the dozens of unincorporated areas that make up Hillsborough County, Florida. The county is also home to the cities of Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City.

Statistics show alcohol is frequently misused in Durant and Hillsborough County. In 2020, the county ranked first in the state for alcohol-related injuries and crashes.1 That same year, Hillsborough County also led the state in DUI arrests.1

Illegal drug use, particularly opioids, is a concern as well. According to the Florida Department of Health, there were 485 fatal overdoses in the county in 2020, and 409 of them were opioid-related.2 That year, there were significantly more deaths related to drug overdoses than traffic accidents, suicides, and homicides.1

In 2021, 2,191 adults in the county were enrolled in a substance abuse program.2 People being admitted for treatment in 2020 and 2021 in Hillsborough County, which includes Durant, reported that their top 3 drugs of choice were alcohol, opiates, and heroin.1 Admission with heroin listed as a drug of choice increased 166% from 2015 to 2020.1

People looking for a drug or alcohol rehab in the Durant area will find a variety of choices available. From inpatient to outpatient centers, a treatment facility in Durant will help patients get the support they need to start their recovery from substance use disorder.

Durant, Fla. Detox and Rehab Availability

There are 30 rehab facilities located within 25 miles of Durant, which is a small percentage of the more than 700 treatment centers located across Florida.3,4 Anyone looking for treatment options in or near Durant has the following options:

  • 12 facilities with detoxification or supervised withdrawal from drug use.3
  • 26 outpatient treatment facilities, which offer patients more flexibility as they can get treatment while living at home.3
  • 5 hospital inpatient centers that offer around-the-clock medical care in a hospital setting.3
  • 23 facilities targeted to people dealing with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.3
  • 8 residential or inpatient care facilities.3

Inpatient rehab in the Durant area requires patients to live at the facility full-time during the treatment process. Programs can range in length of time but average around 30 days. This type of program provides patients with a structured environment where they can focus 100% on their recovery. The schedule can include therapy and counseling sessions, meetings, doctor’s appointments, and recreational activities.

Durant, Fla. Drug and Alcohol Support Groups

Support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are an essential component of rehab in Durant. A support group is a gathering of people who are all dealing with common issues, such as substance misuse. The participants can share their experiences, offer support and encouragement, and receive the same in return. Hearing from others facing similar challenges can make people feel less alone in their addiction.

There are no AA or NA meetings offered in Durant. However, there are meeting options in nearby Brandon. According to the Tri-County Central Office of the Tampa AA, there are meetings available in what is referred to as the Brandon-Valrico-ClairMel region.5 Two options are Our Place, 1009 Lithia Pinecrest Road, Brandon, and Apostle’s Lutheran Church, 200 Kingsway Road, Brandon.5 Both locations hold AA meetings throughout the week.5

NA meetings are available during the week in Brandon at Brandon Christian Church at 910 Bryan Road and New Hope Early Learning Center at 130 N. Moon Avenue.6

Support groups are just one part of the addiction treatment process. Combining a support group such as AA or NA in the care continuum along with individual therapy, inpatient or outpatient treatment, and other support can significantly increase the chances of success.7
