Hollywood, FL Detox and Rehab Centers

Nestled right between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, the city of Hollywood, Florida faces many of the same problems with drug and alcohol addiction as its neighboring cities.

Hollywood is in southern Broward County and makes up part of the Miami metropolitan area. According to the most recent government data available, an estimated 6% of Broward County residents (89,000+ people) suffer from alcohol use disorder, and an estimated 3% (39,000+ people) suffer from illicit drug use disorder.¹ Alcohol has the highest number of treatment admissions in the Miami area, followed by marijuana, heroin, and prescription opioids.¹

During the first half of 2016, cocaine was involved in 76% of drug overdose deaths that occurred in Broward County, which includes Hollywood.¹ Authorities attribute the rise in cocaine-related deaths to increased cocaine production and availability from Colombia.¹

In recent years, illicit fentanyl has been cited as the primary factor responsible for the rise in the total number of drug overdose deaths in Broward County.² Rates of prescription opioid misuse in Broward County, which includes Hollywood, have increased steadily since 2013, while the number of benzodiazepine-related deaths has been rising since 2016.²

Hollywood is home to 80 facilities that offer substance abuse and mental health treatment services.³ These addiction treatment centers are located in Hollywood and within 10 miles outside of Hollywood, including parts of Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines.³ Additionally, there are a total of 141 medical practices in and around Hollywood staffed with doctors who are licensed to prescribe buprenorphine as a maintenance medication for opioid use disorder.³

There is 1 dedicated opioid treatment program (OTP) in Hollywood that offers opioid detox, buprenorphine, and methadone maintenance therapy.⁴ Fortunately, there are also 3 OTPs nearby in Fort Lauderdale and 2 in Pembroke Pines for Hollywood residents who may live closer to these other locations.⁴

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) are two types of many addiction support groups available in and near Hollywood. Twelve-step programs such as these are shown to be highly effective at helping patients achieve long-term sobriety from drugs and alcohol.⁵ People in Hollywood who want to connect with their peers in the recovery community can attend AA and NA meetings any day of the week to benefit from emotional support and gain helpful tips for staying sober.⁵
