The facility was in the middle of nowhere. Very nice and clean and relatively new building, spacious, good and healthy meals. The counseling was extremely effective and counselors were experts, being recovered themselves.
My experience at RiverSource was much better than anything I was expecting. Though it is very regimented and repetitious at times, that kind of structure is exactly what I needed to get into a "recovery state of mind". Staff was very helpful and understanding, from the BHT's to the program director and everyone in between, I found the help and resources I was provided very beneficial. The most beneficial part of my stay here was being surrounded by the staff and peers who helped me to see that I was not in control of my drug use or my life in general. This is a step that I was never able to take, even after spending over a year in some sort of "treatment facility". I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs help understanding their illness and is dedicated to a long term recovery plan.
Definitely great at combining 12-step and holistic treatments, it's not an all or nothing approach, and each person is treated uniquely. It's also a pretty affordable facility as well. It's a nice environment in general, but some of the furnishings are a bit dated. This was my 3rd attempt at treatment, and it was way different than the first 2 places I went. From the first day I was treated as a unique individual and was introduced to new recovery approaches in a way that seemed very inviting. They also went beyond just treatment and helped me focus on life issues that were causing me problems too!
