Lancaster, CA Detox and Rehab Centers

Lancaster is a charter city in Los Angeles County, California that has an estimated population of 170,000.¹ According to a 2018 profile from the County of Los Angeles Public Health, Lancaster had 12.8 annual deaths from unintentional drug overdose per 100,000 residents, significantly more than the county-wide rate of 6.6.²

The same profile noted alcohol outlet density as an important community health metric, as it is correlated to alcohol consumption, crime, and fatal alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes.² The report states, “Excessive alcohol consumption is a leading cause of premature death in Los Angeles County.”² Lancaster’s alcohol outlet density is 10.6 per 10,000, which falls below the country average of 15.1.²

Drug use in Lancaster was a factor in its placement in Business Insider’s ranking of the 50 most miserable cities in America. Lancaster ranked #50, which was based on census data. The accompanying blurb noted meth use as a prominent issue in the city.³

There are many support groups for people struggling with addiction, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA), which are both 12-Step programs in Lancaster, CA. These local chapters offer a sense of community and a safe place for people dealing with addiction to find support and feel less isolated. It is important to note that maintaining the anonymity of members is a key principle for AA and NA.
