Detox Centers in Los Alamitos, California

Los Alamitos, California, is a city in Orange County. Despite the allure of Southern California, Los Alamitos is not immune from the country’s ongoing drug epidemic. Between 2017 and 2021, Los Alamitos reported 29 drug and alcohol-related deaths.¹ Seventeen of them involved drugs, and 12 were alcohol-related.¹

In February 2021, Los Alamitos Police responded to a call at a Los Alamitos apartment where they found 2 people who had become ill.² One of them died, which led to the discovery of a drug lab in the apartment.² Police said a sizable amount of drugs was taken from the scene.²

More than a year later, Los Alamitos Police arrested a man for possession of methamphetamine for sale along with other drug paraphernalia.³ A subsequent investigation led them to a second man who was arrested for felony narcotics warrant.³ Around that same time, officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in Los Alamitos and found the driver in possession of 9 pounds of marijuana and 159 packages of cannabis candy.⁴

Addiction support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) follow the 12-Step method, which is a series of actions members are asked to complete. AA meetings in Los Alamitos are held at St. Isidore’s Historical Plaza, 10961 Reagan St., on the following days and times:⁷

• Monday through Sunday at 7 a.m.
• Sundays at 6 p.m.

There are also meetings held Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at the Community Congressional United Church of Christ, 4111 Katella Ave., and Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the Good Shepard Presbyterian Church, 11600 Los Alamitos Blvd.⁷

The closest NA meetings to Los Alamitos are in Hawaiian Gardens, less than 2 miles away.⁸ Hawaiian Gardens City Hall holds meetings Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m.⁸

Groups such as AA and NA that follow the 12-Step model will encourage members who have been attending for a while to find a sponsor. A sponsor is another group member who is available for additional support outside of meetings.
