Montebello, CA Detox and Rehab Centers

Located roughly 8 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Montebello experiences many of the same problems related to drug use and addiction as its neighboring City of Angels. Fentanyl misuse has been especially prevalent in Montebello and L.A. County recently.

In January 2022, a Montebello man was sentenced to 400 months in federal prison for providing a lethal dose of fentanyl to an individual who then immediately died from a drug overdose.¹ On the same day the overdose occurred, Montebello Police searched the man’s car and seized 4.2 pounds of heroin, 21 grams of fentanyl, 3.2 pounds of marijuana, and 0.4 grams of methamphetamine.¹

In September 2022, another Montebello victim died from a fentanyl-related overdose while attending a music festival in San Bernardino.² The victim died shortly after smoking marijuana, later found to have been laced with fentanyl.^{2, 3}

In the San Gabriel region of L.A. County, where Montebello resides, a total of 315 people died from a fentanyl-related overdose between 2016 and 2021.⁴ This represented more than 8% of the total number of fentanyl-related deaths that occurred in the county during that time.⁴ From 2016 to 2020, there were 158 fentanyl overdose emergency department (ED) visits in the San Gabriel region, which made up more than 12% of the total number of fentanyl-related ED visits that occurred during the same time in L.A County.⁴

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) are drug and alcohol support groups for people in recovery from substance use disorders and for anyone who has the desire to stop using drugs and alcohol.⁶ These support groups are shown to be protective factors against relapse and substance use disorders and are free, anonymous, and widely available, including in and near Montebello.⁶

In Montebello, there are 41 in-person AA meetings and 2 virtual AA meetings.⁷ These meetings are held every day of the week at various times of the day.⁷ All in-person AA meetings are held at 2518 W. Beverly Boulevard, except for one Sunday evening meeting held at 616 W.
