I was nervous to come to treatment but i am glad i came to ambrosia south the staff was really cool its nerve wracking the first week but you get adjusted. they helped me out a lot here and i love them for all of that. ambrosia was really a good place to be.
They took such good care of my son. The counselors and case managers were competent and professional, but were still able to connect with him. The best part was that he seemed to be having so much fun again. We have our son back! The life and recovery skills taught at this facility should be available to anyone regardless of addiction. My son went a boy and came home a man. The biggest weakness was that when it came time to leave, he wanted to stay. They were good about explaining the process though and he has done very well since.
Therapy was honestly the biggest help for me while I was here. I really liked talking to my therapist Ali. I am very careful about who I open up to but she has been great to talk to and Therapist Karah as well. her personality and humor were similar to mine and I would say those two impacted me the most. Nurse Shay, Frankie, and heather were always really helpful they knew me and what I needed right away and the three of them were always very personable. Dr. Fahs had great conversations and was super knowledgeable. He helped me understand tools and medications to help my ADHD. They really worked with me. This is my first and only rehab and we did groups that were sometimes repetitive lectures but others were interactive games and process groups which was always really good. I loved when we went into break out discussions in smaller groups, that was very beneficial. Therapist Karah oversaw the LGBTQ groups which felt like a break away group where we got to talk about issues that affect us. Having that safe space was important. I loved playing volleyball because I've played sports my whole life. I did dharma recovery where I facilitated the groups and there was a big group of us that participated, I only missed one Dharma class the whole time I was here. Finally getting a grasp on my anxiety put things in better perspective for me in recognizing some of the things that had happened to me earlier in life from family and in abusive relationships and processing trauma. Ray the family therapist was really great, he worked with my girlfriend and me. I liked the family program aspect of things because it helped a lot. I didn't realize how isolated I was and how much of an effect that it had on my psyche. Covid hit and I was isolated for a whole year, I got hit with successive events and it got me to the point of being out of control. I learned how to address what I was going through here and I now have a therapist set up and I plan to do meetings and work with my sponsor.
