Nuevo, CA Detox and Rehab Centers

Located east of Lake Perris, Nuevo, CA, is 1 of the rural communities that makes up Riverside County. California is considered a major entry point for heroin and other opioids from Mexico.¹ Once it enters the U.S., Riverside County often serves as the conduit that helps push opiates throughout the rest of the country.²

Medications are often used when treating opioid addiction.⁴ These medications target the same area of the brain as the opioid and help to suppress withdrawal symptoms and relieve cravings.⁴ Once on these medications, patients are often more open to other forms of treatment such as behavioral therapy.⁴

Nuevo offers a variety of options for treating substance use disorders. There are 59 facilities within 25 miles of Nuevo, compared to the more than 1,500 centers available throughout California.^5,6 The Nuevo centers offer the following treatments:⁵

• 22 facilities for interim care if space is not immediately available at another center
• 26 centers for detox and supervised withdrawal from either drugs or alcohol
• 29 outpatient facilities for those patients who have a safe and supportive home environment
• 3 hospital inpatient facilities for more intensive treatment
• 30 residential or inpatient centers for long-term care
• 5 transitional housing options or sober living spaces
• 47 facilities that address co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder

People with a substance use disorder are more likely to also have a co-occurring mental health diagnosis.⁷ Bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and ADHD are a few of the mental health issues most often seen in people also addicted to drugs or alcohol.⁷

The local chapters of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) in and around Nuevo are there to help people establish a support network and maintain their sobriety. There are AA meetings located in nearby Perris 7 days a week.⁸ NA meetings are also available in the Nuevo area.
