Perris, CA Detox and Rehab Centers

Located in Riverside County just miles away from Los Angeles and San Diego, Perris has problems with substance abuse and addiction like many other places in the U.S.

Opioid addiction remains a serious problem in Perris and Riverside County, where rates of synthetic opioid use and overdose deaths have risen in recent years. In 2016, two people in Riverside County died from fentanyl-related overdoses.¹ In 2020, that number rose to 227.² Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid up to 50 times stronger than heroin and up to 100 times stronger than morphine.³

In September 2021, Riverside law enforcement seized 21 kilograms of carfentanil from Perris residents, which was enough to kill more than 50 million people.³ Carfentanil is a synthetic opioid used to tranquilize large animals and is up to 100 times stronger than fentanyl and up to 10,000 times stronger than morphine.³

Riverside County, which includes Perris, had the largest increase in drug-related deaths over 10 years from 2006 to 2015 compared with California and the U.S.⁴ The drug overdose death rate in the county increased nearly 52% during that period, compared with rates of nearly 34% and 14.8% in California and the U.S.⁴ In regards to opioid overdose deaths specifically, the rate of deaths involving these drugs increased 10% from 2011 to 2015 in Riverside County.⁴

In 2019, the rate of binge drinking within the past 30 days among Perris adults was 18.2%, which was higher than the county and national averages of 17.4% and 16.7%.⁵ Rates of depression and poor mental health were also higher in Perris than in Riverside County in 2019, with 18.7% having depression and 16.6% of adults having poor mental health compared with county averages of 17.3% and 13.5%.⁵ Co-occurring mental health disorders like depression and anxiety are found to affect roughly half of all people with substance use disorders and vice versa.⁶

There is one addiction treatment center in Perris located at 23970 Spenser Butte Drive.⁷ This facility offers drug and alcohol detox, sober living, residential rehab, and a variety of behavioral therapies and treatments for opioid use disorder.⁷

There are two other addiction treatment centers located nearby in Riverside and Lake Elsinore, both of which are within a 10-mile radius of Perris.⁷ Perris residents who are willing to travel a bit farther for addiction treatment can choose among 76 drug and alcohol rehab centers within a 25-mile radius.⁷ This makes up roughly 3.3% of the total number of addiction treatment centers located in the entire state of California.⁸

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) are worldwide fellowships and 12-step support group programs that provide its members with emotional support and practical steps that can help them achieve long-term recovery from substance abuse.⁹ Research shows that these drug and alcohol support groups may be more effective at helping people become sober than talk therapies offered at many addiction treatment facilities.⁹

AA meetings in Perris take place 7 days a week.¹⁰ Weekend meetings are available in the mornings, afternoon, and evenings, while weekday meetings are available only at night after 7 p.m.¹⁰ The schedule of AA Perris meetings is available on the official website for the Inland Empire Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous.¹⁰

There are no NA meetings available in Perris at this time, however, there are NA groups that meet in neighboring cities of Menifee and Canyon Lake.¹¹ Perris residents who are interested in attending an NA meeting can view a full list of nearby meetings on the official NA website.¹¹
