To whom it may concern, SJRP changed my life with the infinite amount of love and patience they offered to me. The variety of food and activities made me excited for each day that came along. Activities included the gym, equine therapy, horse back riding, NIT/VAT therapy ( which is amazing!!!), painting and reading, meditation, group and one on one therapy sessions. Extra activities include park excursions, kayaking, visiting springs, and the beach. All the staff ranging from the Director of Operations down to the Custodians are there to provide tender loving care for the betterment of each client. I speak from personal experience and this is why I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend Saint Johns Recovery Place.
Ive been sober since I left which is one year in August. Longest I\'ve been clean since I was 15. Therapists here were great and I learned some good tools. I still go to meetings and out patient but I don\'t ever want to go back to drinking or my old life. Nice place, I miss the beach lol.
Ruskin, FL is a small and peaceful town located in Hillsborough County, which makes it part of the Tampa Bay area. Here you’ll find beautiful Gulf beaches, above-average public schools, and affordable homes, making it one of the top-rated places to live in Florida.1
However, much like other towns and suburbs associated with the Tampa Bay area, Ruskin is facing an opioid epidemic, which has contributed to a significant increase in death-related overdoses since 2018 among people using illicit substances.2 Also, opioids aren’t the only popular substance being used. Cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin, and alcohol remain frequently sought after.3
Local officials have determined that the spike in overdose-related deaths is directly related to the increase in the use of fentanyl as it is often used to mix with other illicit substances to extend supplies and increase potency.4 This is cause for major concern as individuals as young as 12 are experimenting with illicit substances and subsequently developing a substance use disorder.3
Local officials also say that fentanyl isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, making it that much more dangerous for those struggling with a substance use disorder to continue without seeking proper treatment.4
