San Jacinto, CA Detox and Rehab Centers

Located in a valley at the base of the San Jacinto mountains is the city of San Jacinto.¹ San Jacinto is one of the oldest incorporated cities in Riverside County.¹ Over 53,800 residents call San Jacinto home.²

San Jacinto and the rest of Riverside County have seen an increase in drug overdose deaths in the past couple of years.³ About 685 people in Riverside County died from a drug overdose in 2021, which was an increase of 74 cases over the year prior.³ The majority of drug overdose deaths were in men aged 25 to 64.³

Many of the county’s drug overdose fatalities in 2021 were due to the potent synthetic opioid fentanyl.³ According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, fentanyl is 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine.⁴ Overdose deaths typically occur when people take heroin that has fentanyl added without their knowledge.⁴

In 2021, 341 people died in Riverside County due to a fentanyl overdose.³ To address the growing fentanyl problem, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors launched an awareness campaign in 2021.⁵

“Fentanyl has rapidly become a public health crisis. We have to take it seriously and confront the issue directly so that we can keep our communities safe, prevent addiction and save lives,” said Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington in a statement.

Methamphetamine was the primary cause of overdose deaths in older Riverside County residents in 2021.³ That year, methamphetamine was responsible for 398 fatal overdoses in the county, mostly in adults aged 45 to 64.³

Binge drinking in San Jacinto is on par with the rest of Riverside County.⁶ Just over 17% of adults in San Jacinto admitted to binge drinking at least once a month in 2019.⁶ Binge drinking is defined by the CDC as having 5 or more drinks for men and 4 or more drinks for women during 1 occasion.⁷

Finding a support group of other people battling addiction can be very helpful in your recovery from a substance use disorder. The Inland Empire Central Office of Alcoholic Anonymous provides information on the different AA meetings in and around San Jacinto.

Narcotics Anonymous also lists 78 meetings within 20 miles of San Jacinto.
