South Gate, CA Detox and Rehab Centers

The California city of South Gate is located 7 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles and is part of what is considered the Gateway Cities region of southeastern Los Angeles County.¹

Between 2016 and 2021, there were 299 fentanyl overdose deaths in Service Planning Area 7, which includes South Gate.² This region had the second lowest total in the county, but the highest proportion of youth fentanyl overdose deaths at 5.4%.²

In 2018, a South Gate man was one of 6 people arrested in Southern California as part of an investigation into a global cocaine trafficking conspiracy.³ During the course of the investigation, law enforcement seized close to 8,000 pounds of cocaine with a potential street value of $500 million.³

During a traffic stop in 2017, the South Gate K-9 police dog alerted officers to potential drugs in the vehicle.⁴ Officers conducted a search and seized 14 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of half a million dollars.⁴
