Sparks, NV Detox and Rehab Centers

Sparks, Nevada, is a suburb located just east of the popular gaming city of Reno. More than 108,000 people called Sparks home in 2020, ranking as the fifth-largest city in Nevada when it comes to population.¹

In Washoe County, where Sparks is located, there were about 11 opioid deaths per 100,000 residents in 2018, which is on par with the state.³ However, in Sparks, there were 17 opioid overdose deaths out of every 100,000 people in 2018.³

Binge drinking in Washoe County is also higher than in the rest of the state.⁴ The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines binge drinking as consuming more than 5 drinks for men and 4 for women within a 2-hour timeframe.⁵

According to 2017 data from Nevada Tomorrow, 20.5 percent of adults in Washoe County reported binge drinking at least once within the past 30 days.⁴ That figure is higher than state data, which shows 17.9 percent of adults reported binge drinking.⁴

There are many rehabilitation efforts occurring in Nevada aimed to help treat addiction to drugs or alcohol. To help prevent opioid overdose deaths, Nevada received $5.6 million in federal funding to address the opioid crisis in the state through prevention, treatment, and recovery services.⁶

This program has dispensed over 21,800 Naloxone kits throughout the state.⁶ Naloxone is lifesaving medicine that can help reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. The Nevada State Opioid Response program reports that over 1,390 opioid overdoses were reversed with Naloxone between February 2018 and September 2021.⁶
