Wallingford, CT Detox and Rehab Centers

The town of Wallingford, CT is located about 13 miles north of New Haven and runs along the Quinnipiac River in the northern part of Connecticut’s New Haven County.¹

From 2015 until 2021, Wallingford reported 69 drug overdose deaths.² The highest number was 15 in 2016 followed by 14 in 2021.² Of the 14 deaths in 2021, opioids were involved in all of them, and 13 involved fentanyl.² Cocaine, alcohol, and heroin were also found in several of the overdose victims.²

Wallingford has also seen its share of drug arrests. In 2019, a convicted Wallingford drug dealer was arrested again on drug charges, including operating a drug factory.³ During a search of the man’s home, law enforcement found cocaine, heroin, and LSD.³

In addition, Wallingford Police charged 2 people with operating another drug factory in the area in 2021.⁴ Detectives uncovered more than 6 pounds of marijuana and materials to process and sell it.⁴

That same year, a Wallingford man was charged in federal court with trafficking oxycodone and cocaine.⁵ A search of his Wallingford home turned up 500 grams of cocaine and oxycodone pills.⁵

Alcohol is also a concern. In the fall of 2021, an area man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for causing a car crash in Wallingford that killed a woman and injured 3 others.⁶ Police determined the man was driving drunk.⁶

Recovery from a substance use disorder is a lifelong journey. One way to help support that journey is by joining an addiction-specific support group. A support group is made up of people who are also in recovery. Through attending weekly meetings, members receive acceptance and assistance with staying sober.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) are 2 well-known support groups for addiction. AA meetings in Wallingford are held at the following locations:⁹

• Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place St. — Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
• The Renaissance Club, 68 Quinnipiac St. — Saturday at 7 and 9 a.m., Friday and Tuesday at 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Thursday at 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday and Wednesday at 7 a.m., and Sunday at 7, 8:30, and 10 a.m.
• Luftberry Park, 10 Cheshire Rd. — Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.
• Gaylord Hospital, 50 Gaylord Farm Rd. — Saturday at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., Sunday at 6 p.m., and Monday at 8 p.m.

NA meetings are also held at the Renaissance Club on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7:15 p.m.¹⁰ Other meetings include:¹⁰
