As someone who spent ~4 months there, all I can say is that it is pretty terrible there. I say this, not just because i went there against my will, but because of how kids were treated and how they chose to go about controlling the kids. Anytime a kid made a scene, they were almost immediately sedated. This was done so often that the staff made up a nickname for it, "booty-juice." And the one resident who never got it was twice as violent and disruptive as the rest of us. I spent the first three months there butting heads with my therapist, because she was belittling my feelings for a man and refused to hear my side. It was only when the hall was on the brink of a riot, that they sat me down and offered a new therapist, who actually listened to how I felt and worked with me. The staff and nurses there were pretty great, save for a few. My only issues were with management, and my first therapist. But I digress.

My son was a resident at this facility. He has many behavioral issues that were not addressed. His therapist did not communicate with us well, missed numerous sessions without calling. The therapist reported to us that he was doing well, when in fact we found out he had been in numerous fights with peers and staff. Also he was failing school. I'm not defending our son as he has many problems and chooses to make questionable decisions. Acadia was going to send him home even when he was not stabilized and only gave us 2 days notice, they didn't have a discharge plan in place when in fact we discussed this with his therapist when our son first arrived. We put our foot down and reluctantly they extended his stay. Then they transported our son to another facility without consent or notifying us! The only reason we found out was the other facility called us the next day! Acadia has been a disappointing experience for our family , they have dropped the ball on our son and hope this will not happen to another family. There was no communication between the Doctors, therapists, and our family! In many ways they failed! Seems like they didn't want to deal with our son and looked to pass him on to someone else.

I was skeptical at first but “speaking from someone who was a resident there”, this is the best experience I’ve ever had. They listened to me, made sure I had what I needed, helped me to find myself when I was sure I had lost it helped me work through what I needed to, helped me to get stabilized and most importantly gave me hope. There are endless things but these are just a few. Thank you Acadia Montana 😀

My son has been in this place for about a year now and is now coming home in a week I would have to say that his progress has improved he has made a lot of changes his therapist and doctors are amazing some of the nurses there he was able to make a relationship with he has his favorite nurses soda why am there have been some issues of kids bullying him which I have addressed with his therapist and measurements were taken and so I was very please with that there have been a few staff members that I’ve had issues with with returning my son back having to wait a long period of time for a staff member to come to the front to get him to take him back to his unit other than that I am very pleased with the progress on the support that we as a family have received and I actually recommended this place for to another person and her son is currently their arm like I said I haven’t had any really major issues my son has brought up some but we have addressed it with the doctor and the therapist and the therapist understood my concerns and his concerns and looked into everything and if they found that it was true then the measurements that that she took to make sure that this won’t happen again was amazing the response from his therapist was unbelievable he has been in another treatment facility and that never really worked until we got him into Acadia which I’m happy I did otherwise we could be doing this again over and over but I feel that with my son being finally discharging and the progress that he’s made I believe that he will be coming home and staying home for good and there are things that we still have to work on it as a family but will get over that and he’s gained a lot of coping skills and learning to take responsibility for his actions and not put the blame on myself as his mom so that is pretty amazing I am very pleased
