Areas of Specialization
  • Brainspotting Therapy (BSP)
Brainspotting therapy has been found to be beneficial for a myriad of issues, especially those linked to trauma. It can provide relief for individuals battling anxiety, attachment issues, substance use, chronic pain, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Major Depressive Disorder. In a small study, participants reported a reduction in PTSD, anxiety, and depression symptoms after only a few sessions. Other benefits noted included a decrease in pain, a reduction in negative thought patterns, better sleep, and increased energy.
  • Trauma Informed Therapy
Trauma-informed therapy focuses on understanding a patient’s history of trauma and how it’s impacting their behavioral health. This form of therapy can help patients if they are unable to cope with the trauma they’ve experienced, or if it’s affecting their ability to function. Trauma-informed therapy can also address issues of guilt and shame that trauma survivors often carry. Tyler Bowman, Founder and CEO of Brooks Healing Center, understands the role trauma can play in addiction, “I had a lot of shame and guilt that were underlying from my childhood that I never really dealt with,” Bowman says. “I want to make sure everyone gets the treatment they need and they’re able to address these issues that have been chasing them for so long and help guide them through that process.”
  • Experiential Therapy
When you think about traditional therapy, an art studio or a hike in the woods probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But these are just some of the activities that are common during experiential therapy sessions. Experiential psychotherapy focuses on interactive activities or experiences that provide patients with the opportunity to confront negative emotions or past traumas. For patients who may have trouble opening up to their therapist about difficult emotions or challenging times in their lives, this therapy can be useful since it allows them to confront their feelings in a “safe space”.
  • CBT Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been used to treat everything from anxiety to bipolar disorder and is also commonly used to treat addiction. It helps patients recognize how their thoughts and actions can contribute to their addiction(s).
  • 12 Step Program
The program helps people overcome addiction through a 12-Step process. The steps are designed as guidelines for individual recovery from addiction and provides it’s members with a community of support and accountability as they navigate through the steps. The 12-Step program is commonly thought to be solely for the recovery of alcohol addiction but it can also be used for other addictions such as gambling or drug use.
