Florida Recovery Center Gainesville

4001 S.W. 13th Street, Gainesville, Florida, 32608
The physicians and staff at Florida Recovery Center believe that addiction is a chronic disease that affects the body, mind and spirit. But the condition can be treated, and the rehab utilizes multidisciplinary assessments, state-of-the-art treatment protocols, 12-Step facilitation and cognitive behavioral therapies to help clients recover. The Gainesville location offers a comprehensive continuum of care designed to heal the whole person, including detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient services and continuing care.

Specialization

  • Intensive Out Patient (IOP)

Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.
  • Medical Detoxification

Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.

While I typically do not leave online reviews, I feel compelled to take the time to write one for UF's Florida Recovery Center. I attended FRC in 2006-2007 and again in 2019 when I sustained a relapse after 10+ years of sobriety. Without Dr. Ken Thompson (former medical director), Dr. Scott Teitelbaum (current medical director) and their multifaceted team of clinicians and experts in addiction psychiatry, I most likely would have joined the many others who have succumbed from this disease. It was not until recently I fully came to appreciate how fortunate I was to have been afforded the opportunity to attend FRC for treatment. It saddens me to see some of the disparaging comments and unfounded negative reviews written by people who are obviously as sick, angry and resentful as I was when I was placed under a Marchman Act by Dr. Teitelbaum in 2006. In my opinion, UF's Florida Recovery Center is among the best programs addiction psychiatry has to offer. Not only did the clinicians of this exemplary program preserve my licenses to practice law and veterinary medicine, they saved my life. And for that, I am forever grateful.

Whoever was on call today for FRC is the worse doctor. Not only disrespectful and rude but a liar. The farmacy needed a doctor to call to release the medication....and this so call scam doctor called and said ok, I guess the patient can wait till tomorrow to get it. Leaving the patient withdrawalling all day and night. Even the farmacist told me they would have release it a day earlier if the STUPID doctor said it was necessary. Clearly she doesn't care about a shit! I will be following up with a fprmal complaint on Monday. She needs to b fire ASAP Xiaoli Weisheng Xiaoli Weisheng 3 reviews 2 weeks agoNEW

As a physician, i do not agree with the process by UF Frc. It is NOT an individual health care improvement process as directed by Director M,D. The program has many high quality benefits so, select this \'eductional\' program with scrutiny.

FRC is absolutely awful. My therapist spent my entire stay pushing his religious views onto me, and then putting me down for not accepting it. I was consistently singled out and ridiculed by the group for this matter. Yet, this pales in comparison to the lies that he told my family... If you want to throw away thousands of dollars for marginal \"treatment\" go to FRC and ask for my therapist.
