It's tough getting admitted all I've gotten was the runaround, both the internet runaround and telephonically. Insurance and the center are essentially pointing at each other.

The only issues I had with Hazelden, was that they did not thoroughly check my bag when I arrived. I had to go to them and let them know that they had forgotten to open some pockets, so I could have easily snuck anything in. Also, they do not follow up with their patients. I see it as, \"we did our job, it is now up to you to flourish, we love you, and good luck.\" When I walked into Hazelden in 2018, I was scared and confused, but on August 15th 2021, I will be 3 years clean and sober. I look back at my experience and I smile and sometimes close my eyes and pretend I am there. I met a lot of amazing gentlemen and I have memories that will last me a lifetime. I read some of these comments and I am shocked with all the negativity. I was probably the only African American man there, and yet it never fazed me because of how welcoming everyone was. I went from eating nothing outside of Hazelden, to eating three full meals a day, exercising, and finding a spirituality hidden deep within me that I had no clue was there. This place is obviously not for everyone, but I would reccomend it for sure.

This treatment facility is excellent and the staff is well-qualified and caring. Unfortunately, I left before completing the residential portion of the program due to some PTSD issues resulting in an anxiety attack. I am home and doing well in AA and I will always be grateful for what I learned in the 2 weeks I was there. However, after I left, I found that personal items were not returned to me, including a watercolor journal with personal information, half-filled with my personal artwork. I also accidentally left behind clothing worth several hundred dollars, which they claim they cannot find. I'm left wondering whether these items were just dumped into a community pile to be picked through for clients who come in without appropriate apparel, or if I was the victim of theft while in residence. My husband and I have called three times without any luck. I will be attending AA meetings at the Bellevue location starting in January. Maybe someone there will be able to help us.

Hazelden is terrible for the cost. My biggest complaint is zero follow up. I'm not sure how they state their numbers- I've been there 3 times and have yet to have someone ask about me. They are awful, they don't care about you, please don't go there.
