Over 15 patients got COVID while I was there, with the Clinical director claiming everyone was tested when they were admitted. Yet, multiple girls in my group also spoke to me and said they were never tested also. Medication management is insane. The medications prescribed to me by a psychiatrist who knew of my addiction were NOT given to me and then destroyed without my knowing or permission. I saw the doctor ONCE for a scheduled visit even though my insurance requires one visit each week. I have seen people choke, fall on their face, smuggle vapes and even drugs in. There is barely nursing staff available and even then the patients have to go to them for help. The nurses do not check on the patients as they should, especially for detox patients who could literally have a stroke or seizure without anyone knowing. I was told this facility had mental health services, for depression, anxiety and PTSD. FALSE, My "counselor" was just finishing her 2 year degree and when my parents called to request a more accredited mental health counselor and sessions for me they were told the facility didn't have the staff or capabilities to do so. THIS IS NOT DUAL DIAGNOSIS It's all AA based, and I had multiple staff tell me or ask why I was in treatment for my drug of choice, marijuana. Saying it wasn't worth it or I didn't need it. In hindsight this facility IS NOT a medical facility or a mental health one. I would strongly recommend researching the recent death in May of 2023 that occurred here and realize that could be your loved one. Go somewhere else, it's a for profit business and that's it.

I don't know how I feel about these places in general, personally for my sister no treatment facilities have been able to help her because she was not ready to make that step. Hopefully with her time in prison she will get clean. I think that classes that are offered could potentially be very beneficial. But as I said before the pt has to be ready to make that jump. not strict enough.

My husband\'s drinking was destroying him, our marriage, and family. We live in Florida, but his parents lived in Washington. We planned an intervention and he was admitted to Milam Recovery in Kirkland. He is 10 years sober this month. First of all this is not a resort or spa. This is a rehab facility people. They are not there to kiss your behind, but to save it. The counselors, are not \"mean\" they are direct and firm. Alcoholics and addicts need structure, discipline, and someone to get real with them. They are not going to baby you. If you are there it\'s because you need to be there. No, the food isn\'t the best, but again your not there for the food. The family group sessions were I felt very helpful. I recommend you take them. No, your not allowed to have electronics, because your there to get well, not update your Twitter, and Facebook account. This is a distraction from your treatment. No, there is no sugar or caffeine. The lack of these help your body detox. Yes, they will search your bags when you go in. Almost half of the people my husband was with tried to smuggle drugs or alcohol in. Imagine that, addicts smuggling contraband in. This is for your own good. Yes, you have to attend AA meetings daily. to reinforce your treatment/counseling. Yes, you are asked to attend after care meetings. Again, these are to help you, when your out on your own. In my opinion most to the negative reviews are people whining because staff are mean, they had to follow the rules, the food was not 5 star quality, their beds were not comfy, People get real. I\'ll admit the place could use an update, it is a little dated and dark, (at least when he was there) however your there for treatment for addiction. My husband has kept in touch with several of the people he was in with most of them are still sober or clean. So I think that is what speaks volumes, in my opinion. From my own personal experience Milam saved his life and that was all I cared about.

This place is a joke. The staff had no communication. The staff was rude. The billing department told me a price up front for the full stay that had to be paid in full upfront. After mty child was there nine days. They asked her if she was ready to go home. I did not get any money back from her only being there 9 days of the 29 day. They billed my insurance the same they billed myself. The staff seemed over worked with not enough help. One staff member contiuned to yell at me one the phone because I asked him a question he did not have the answer to. He could have said Im not sure and transfered me to his boss. I would never recommend this place. If you are from out of state do not go here. I was told it was all female facility but there is a hallway that keeps the men and the women apart.
