i question effectiveness as many patients had been there before. Not conducive to older patients (over 50). Fine for detox altho i experienced conficts w/ what doctor/nurse explained was necessary for detox vs what Phoenix 'protocol' was. when i left after assurance from medical personnel that i had completed program sufficiently (in 4 days), i was given 'failing' grade by facility & told i left 'against medical advice' even though that was NOT true. it was against facility protocol (which was 5 days), but NOT against medical advice. they tend to gang up on persons just there for short stay detox, insinuating if you don't attend the full 28-day session there is a greater chance you will relapse, almost 'wishing' that upon the patient instead of supporting a patients goals, assumption being all patients are damaged & that their thinking must be wrong w/o even getting to know them - NOT HEALTHY! Athough initially my insurance said it was covered, when i got to the facility they expected money up front & told me i'd have to take up reimbursement w/ insurance on my own. some discrepancy as to whether insurance covers a short stay detox or only the 28-day stay. I will be contacting my insurance today for verification. i found a LOT of miscommunication between the various 'levels' of 'authority' there. Also nurse is only there briefly, twice daily to administer meds & doctor only once briefly as well, and NOT ON THE WEEKENDS AT ALL. Only doctor can alter medical program, nurse unable to make any changes. Altho my discharge summary stated i met w/ counselor for 2 sessions of 15-20 min each, it was barely 5 minutes each. I learned more from nurse/doctor & available literature than instructors. I will say it was one of the least expensive for detox which is why i chose it & it did satisfy my goal, altho as stated, i felt discrimminated against since i wasn't a 28-day patient.

PRC gave me what I need to live a sober life. The staff was very helpful and respectful with an excellent knowledge of the treatment of addiction. The intimate setting offered a unique and personal experience that has given me numerous tools that have helped me stay clean and sober. I have been to other treatment centers and I consider Phoenix Recovery Center to be the most effective treatment that I have received. Thank you PRC for all you have done for me. Today I am living a clean and sober life that began when I walked in the door. I couldn't be more blessed and grateful!

They tend to think that limiting communication with a loved one that's in rehab is beneficial. What I found with my loved one is that it creates stress, anxiety and an unknown about what's happening on the outside world. Obviously there's things that caused my loved one to use in the outside world but the use started before we met. It was only after we met that my loved one decided to seek treatment. Obviously I can't say my loved one is doing it for me because that would be all the wrong reasons. They limit the amount of letters they're allowed to receive and the length of the letters even though nothing the letters is bad it's all loving and caring. Their professionalism is horrible. They don't communicate with anybody on the outside that has somebody in there. When they take their clients out for doctor's appointments their CPAs use their cell phones while driving. Their family program is non-existent even though they say it's one of the best. I have yet to have a meeting scheduled with the counselor and my loved one to ensure that the exit strategy is in place and they have a path forward that we all agree with and will stick to. All in all this place causes more stress then it needs to by limiting families involvement with their loved ones recovery.
