About River Oaks Outpatient Treatment

At River Oaks, we have several different types of outpatient programs designed to meet the individual needs of each patient. Outpatient drug and alcohol rehab programs may be ideal for people who don’t have serious co-occurring disorders that would necessitate 24-hour supervision and for those who either don’t need medical detox or have completed it already.

Learn More About River Oaks Outpatient Treatment

What is the duration of addiction treatment programs?
The duration of addiction treatment programs can vary depending on the individual's needs and circumstances but commonly range from 30 to 90 days.
What is the cost of addiction treatment programs?
The cost of addiction treatment programs can vary depending on the type and length of treatment, but many facilities offer financial assistance and payment plans to help make treatment more affordable. Treatment is an investment in your future, and we believe everyone who needs it should be able to access it. We can help verify your insurance coverage at an AAC facility in just a few minutes, and determine the best way to pay for care.
Will my health insurance cover the cost of addiction treatment?
Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), treatment for substance use disorder (SUD) is considered an essential benefit. This means that many health insurance plans cover some, if not all, of the cost of addiction treatment, but coverage may vary depending on the provider and the type of treatment received.
What types of therapies are used in addiction treatment?
Therapies used in addiction treatment can include various behavioral therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and more.
Facility Highlights
  • Recovery-Oriented Challenge Therapy
ROCT allows a therapist to observe and directly engage with clients during an activity, such as outdoor games and skill-building exercises.
  • Psychoeducational and Didactic Groups
Psychoeducational groups focus on educating patients about substance use and its related behaviors and consequences. Didactic groups focus on improving problem-solving skills and developing healthy coping skills to achieve the specific goals they set.
  • 12-Step Work
12-Step work involves patients utilizing the 12 Steps in their recovery process. This includes following each step and taking appropriate action for each one.
  • Family Therapy
Family members of those struggling with a substance use disorder can begin working together to repair and restore their relationships that have been affected by addiction.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
CBT helps people learn to identify harmful thinking and behavior patterns to address underlying issues that contribute to their addiction. By reframing and changing these thoughts and beliefs, CBT can help patients avoid relapsing.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
MI helps individuals in addiction treatment address any resistance or ambivalence they may be experiencing regarding change. The interviewer works with the patient to strengthen commitment and motivation to work toward a particular goal.
  • Individual and group counseling
Patients will receive individual therapy sessions, where they can talk about the specific factors that contribute to their addiction and how to manage them properly. Group counseling encourages patients to develop a sense of community with one another while they discuss commonly shared challenges and develop new skills to get sober and stay in recovery.
  • Alumni App
Once treatment has been completed, we provide patients a connection to our alumni app, provided by ChessHealth. Through this app, patients can stay connected with one another and receive continued supportive services as they integrate back into their everyday lives.

Areas of Specialization
  • Outpatient Treatment
Outpatient treatment describes all addiction treatment that is not residential. Patients live at home while undergoing rehab.
  • 12-Step
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.
  • Family Program
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
  • The Rally Point: AAC
Our Tampa Bay area addiction treatment facility offers programming that is designed specifically to address the needs of Veterans living with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
