SOBA Recovery Center believes that one size does not fit all when it comes to treatment for alcohol and drug addiction. The residential rehab offers a variety holistic therapy methods, as well as individualized treatment plans designed to uncover the core issues that contribute to substance abuse. Once the causes of addiction have been successfully treated, clients are more likely to stay sober and better able to solidify the coping skills they’ve learned to navigate life without alcohol and/or drugs.

At SOBA, we believe the factors that led you to drink in the first place are as much a crucial part of the disease as the dependency on alcohol itself. In order to best understand this, we can compare this to chronic back pain: if you only take medication to relive the pain, the underlying issues causing the pain will never be addressed. Therefore, is just the "broken" back the disease, or the pain you feel from it? Or both? The same can be applied to addiction. Alcohol treatment that only addresses the cessation of drinking ultimately does nothing to address the true disease. Ultimately, Emotional Sobriety is the goal of our treatment plan.

Wendy Ashley, Psy.D, LCSWClinical DirectorDr. Wendy Ashley manages Soba clinical programs and the supervision of clinical staff. She has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ryokan College, a Masters in Social Work from University of Southern California, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Dr. Ashley has nearly 20 years of experience in mental health, addiction and recovery. She has experience in academic institutions, community mental health clinics and behavioral health organizations. She has specialization in working with trauma, identity issues and relational problems. Dr. Ashley has authored several articles and has been asked to present at conferences nationally.- Wendy Doucette, PsyDLCSW, Primary TherapistDr. Doucette brings over 15 years of clinical experience to her work with clients at Soba. She has trained at The Payne Whitney Clinic at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, and at Cedars Sinai in the Home Hospice program. Extensive clinical training and practical life experience have proven just how painfully destructive addiction can be. Utilizing an integrative and holistic approach, Dr. Doucette works with clients and their loved ones on both changing distressing behavior and improving overall well-being, targeting immediate concerns first. Dr. Doucette’s work stems from a core belief that people do the best they can, given the story of their lives and the supports available to them.
