ABOUT SPRING HILL RECOVERY CENTER
Set on 70 acres of wooded land in Ashby, Massachusetts, Spring Hill Recovery Center provides residential treatment to adults struggling with substance use disorder. The rehab also offers specialized groups for clients with co-occurring disorders, an option offered by 58 percent of substance abuse treatment centers in Massachusetts.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, each client receives a comprehensive assessment, which is used to create an individualized plan. Residential treatment at Spring Hill Recovery typically lasts 25 days.
The faciilty utilizes evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), psychoeducation, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), the latter of which is practiced in 59 percent of treatment centers in Massachusetts.
In addition, Spring Hill Recovery provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT). In 2017, 11,628 individuals were receiving MAT in Massachusetts, making up about 11.2 percent of individuals receiving MAT at a national level.
Clients participate in regular one-on-one counseling, group therapy, and family counseling, as well as experiential activities such as equine therapy, yoga, mindfulness meditation, and art or music therapy. The principles of 12-Steps are introduced and taught as a foundation for recovery. A two-day family program is also offered.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team includes a board-certified addiction psychiatrist, along with licensed mental health counselors, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, licensed clinical social workers, and a registered nurse. To date, the six individuals who evaluated the staff for Rehabs.com to date gave them exceptional ratings.

The 32-bed facility offers both shared and private rooms, and features an on-site gym and a full-time chef. The six polled on the matter generally approved of the quality of the accommodations, as well as the opportunities for exercise and leisure activities.

The majority of former clients surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing (10 out of 12) gave Spring Hill Recovery positive feedback. They described the treatment as effective, the staff as compassionate, and the environment as comfortable, soothing, and serene. "Very good mix of group interaction and activity based treatment. Spring Hill Recovery earned an average rating of 3.9 out of five stars based on 10 Google reviews. Of the five alumni who left comments, two offered positive feedback and three offered negative feedback. Those complaints included superficial, cookie-cutter treatment plans, unqualified staff, and an inappropriate focus on money.

To date, the one staff member surveyed by Rehabs.com gave the facility a mostly negative review. They awarded the facility just one or two out of five stars across almost all metrics evaluated, including counseling options, cleanliness, exercise and leisure activities, holistic offerings, and treatment of co-occurring disorders.
