Specialization

  • Individual Therapy

This term describes one-on-one therapy, in which a patient and trained counselor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist meets privately with a patient to discuss challenges related to lifestyle, work, family and romantic relationships that may have contributed to the development of an addiction.
  • Client & Family Support Groups

Group therapy is a vital component of addiction recovery treatment, considered as important and effective (sometimes even more so) than individual therapy. Benefits include reducing isolation and loneliness and providing the opportunity to learn from others in recovery. In the addiction setting, group therapy is run by trained professionals who guide participants toward a shared goal of recovery.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.
  • Residential Treatment

Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
  • Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)

Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.

In addition, the facility offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for both men and women, as well as specialized educational classes and support groups. The residential center does not offer on-site detoxification services.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Before beginning treatment, clients participate in an initial behavioral and psychiatric assessment to help clinicians develop an individualized plan of care. The length of the residential program at Synergy Recovery Center for Women is designed to last between 60 days up to 180 days (six months), making it one of Missouri’s 28 (10.9 percent) long-term treatment facilities.

Synergy Recovery Center for Women utilizes a range of evidence-based treatment methods, holistic therapies, and 12-step immersion to help clients acquire and maintain sobriety. During residential treatment, clients participate in individual, family, and group therapy sessions to help clients identify and change destructive thinking patterns that may contribute to addictive behavior. Clients also regularly attend 12-step meetings, and SMART Recovery sessions are also available.

The facility also holds experiential and educational classes that address a range of topics, including improving life skills, setting relationship boundaries, parenting, health education, and stress management. To address issues related to trauma, Synergy Recovery Center for Women utilizes eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EDMR). In addition, clients with co-occurring mental health concerns may attend specialized counseling groups and relevant educational sessions, as well as receive ongoing medication management.

In addition to evidence-based treatments, Synergy Recovery Center for Women offers a variety of holistic treatments designed to promote free expression, reduce stress, and improve mindfulness. Holistic therapies included music and art therapy, guided yoga sessions, exercise sessions, and mindful meditations. Acudetox, a specialized ear acupuncture practice, is available making Synergy one of the six (2.3 percent) facilities in Missouri that offer acupuncture.

Once a client completes residential treatment, clinicians may encourage graduates to transition into the facility's intensive outpatient program to continue treatment, which includes group and individual counseling and education classes. The IOP program and aftercare programs are co-ed unless specifically designed for gender groups. I first started my relationship with Synergy three years ago. I was lost, broken, and struggling to find any kind of purpose. I was hurting so deeply that I just knew I would never live any kind of happy life. I was not the easiest client to deal with throughout my stays at Synergy, but the staff always remained patient and understanding with me. They knew what I was going through and gave me the space to heal that I needed. The staff at Synergy encouraged me and continued to pour love and worthiness into me until I was able to do so myself. They cared for me while I couldn’t care for myself. Over the last few years, I have been able to find my true self, figure out how to live a happy life, and most importantly, learned that my past does not define me. I can finally say that I have truly learned the importance of self-reflection and speaking my truth, all with the help of Synergy and I never would have gotten here without them!

There are not enough words to express the gratitude I have in my heart for Paige Tuck and her amazing team. Each team member is committed to, and loves what they do. I completed the program and am leaving today to start my new life. Synergy has brought skills and tools in to my life that no other treatment center has ever offered me. The behavioral and mental health aspect they incorporate in to their curriculum is the key piece that I\'ve been missing for the past 15 years of my life plagued by relapse and recovery. I truly learned how to love myself here. Thank you for saving my life. Each one of you are forever in my heart.

Going to synergy was one of the best decisions I\'ve ever made! Paige and the wonderful people who work there are committed to helping each woman heal and start a new way of life. Their passion for recovery is contagious! The other women at the center and the staff became like a family to me. Even after leaving, we stay in contact and continue to support each other. I highly reccomend it if you are looking for a place to help you overcome your struggles and strengthen your mental, physical and spiritual health. I use the tools and coping skills I learned at synergy daily, and would not be the woman I am today without them!
