The staff do not supervise the children well. Many children were in fights that resulted in injury such as traumatic brain injury and the need for X-rays. Many children run away and the police are called often. Items are frequently stolen. The clinicians did not include me in the plan of care without me having to make complaints. Even then, my child's needs were not met and many concerns were never addressed. My child is home now and considers the stay at the Village as being away to camp and can not recall coping strategies or lessens that were to be learned. Things are not going well. The Village was a waste of time and money.

I went here when i was 14 for 2 or 3 months, I’m 16 now. I was reading the website of this place and I got furious about how much they lie. I was sent here by my parents for bipolar, anxiety, depression, self harm, and suicidal tendencies, and it was the worst experience of my life. The staff mentally and physically hurt the patients, and violated basic human rights. I have read reviews of people who have been there to make sure I’m not the only one and they all say the same thing. The staff had anger issues, and you can’t talk to them unless they like you. They would tackle girls, dump your stuff out of your drawers to look for drugs, and were always too busy to help you. I remember having a migraine and i threw up in the woods because they made us walk extremely fast carrying a big bucket of water, and the nurses were “too busy” to give me any advil or anything. And I know damn well they were not too busy because all they do is strip search us and overdose us on meds we never took before here. Not to mention this is the same “nature trail walks” they tell you about. The porta potties we used had wasp nests in them, not to mention once i was in one and the guards on duty that day forgot about me and went to lunch without me, if i didn’t run up to them, i could have ran away and they wouldn’t know until another girl asked where i was. they would treat you like prisoners, if you’ve ever seen orange is the new black, its a lot like that. the whole time I was there I think i saw a therapist 3 times, not to mention she broke the law by telling my parents something i told her in confidence, so she should be fired and have her license revoked. She also lost items they gave me. I remember if someone acted out of the normal in any way, even if it was just hugging another girl, they would put you on LOP and you couldn’t call your family for the 5 minutes they give you, and if you sat on your bed and stared at the wall all day they would put you on platinum, and that means you would have the ability to sit in a room with nothing to do but play a broken golf arcade game. “top of the line education” they brag about on their website is locking 36 mentally unstable girls who get into fights constantly in a room together with 3 teachers, some try their best, but I remember them being stressed out saying they wanted to quit, whilest others just gave up hope and sat behind a desk all day doing nothing. The food was horrible, I remember being put on a eating disorder watch list for girls who don’t eat the food, because I couldn’t eat half the food, it was inedible. This made my mental health far worse, they are a prison masquerading as a therapeutic summer camp. I would say 90% of the people who worked here should be sent to prison, the only person so I can say was any good was ms.Berry, she was on the night staff and she treated the girls like human beings. This place didn’t help me at all and i beg of you, do not send your child here because it is traumatizing.

I was at the villages a few years ago. They did help with my mental health but refused me medical care because they thought I was faking it and I almost died, I am permanently physically damaged from this and have severe asthma attacks that put me in the hospital 2-3 times a year. The psychiatrist took a phone call from her cleaning lady while I was reviewing my childhood sexual assault with her upon my ENTRY. The techs were the only decent part. It has been six years and I still am recovering from the trauma of being here.
